I find the red leaves to be intriguing and love the shadow to the right of them on the tree trunk. The black background works to emphasize the new life. Well focused, this image is clear exposure is correct, the colors and tones appear natural. You have brought out texture and detail in the trunk and I love the shadows.
I think this is a good entry for this contest ! The black being the negative space! Very but wishes to you!

A beautiful picture of the new Maple Leaves on a very fine branch growing out from the trunk of the tree with the sunlight shining down onto the leaves from above so it's shadow is cast upon the trunk as an added bonus. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
