What a sweet image! I always love it when you see squirrels holding their paw up like this. I don't know why they do it but I love seeing them this way! This little guy is alert and very cute! The wonderful focus and lighting really allow us to enjoy this little character. A great entry for the Letter "S" contest! :o) Helvi

Thank you so much Nancy! Yes it was that little paw clutched to his heart that really appealed to me too - I should have called it Romeo Professing His Love! That?s what it reminds me of. Lol

This is excellent. The adorable squirrel with that beautiful face and alert expressions, sharp eye, and attentive ear are all relevant parts within themselves and to the whole composition. But your background with the blurring and greens, oranges, golds is just as good.

I suppose it was obvious that a squirrel would come up in this contest,but that saying it is a nice close up of this one,usually its good if you can capture an image with a nut in its mouth but this will do instead...Brian

Thank you. I do have other photos where the squirrel has a nut, but I feel they?re a bit cliché, and I prefer not to do what everyone else does. :)

A very beautiful profile Portrait of this little American Grey Squirrel ~ Sciurus Carolinensis who were introduced to these Islands in the early 1900 to increase Biodiversity...But they have disseminated our Native Red Squirrel one reason is they carry the Squirrel Pox that they are immune to, but it kills the Red Squirrel. Never the less they are beautiful animals & your photo captures this beauty with the light sparkling in it's eye while highlighting it's beautiful coat. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Squirrels are fascinating creatures, they have beautiful lines and move effortless through the trees and along the fence tops. They hide their food in the ground and propagate many a species. You have a wonderful close up shot here with fine DOF. The best of luck in the contest. Ray
