This is a portrait quality shot.
Your narrow DOF is spectacular. The lighting is also amazing as it goes from sharp focus on the muzzle and a soft light on the chest hair and background. Your timing of the shot was perfect.

Oh Jodi, this has got to be the winner, it's stunning! I don't know the breed, but he looks like a brown border collie?
Focus is perfect showing beautiful detail in his eye, whiskers and coat, with good dof.
Exposure is also spot on giving good natural colours, and the lighting is wonderful.
I love the close crop, and the deck behind almost looks like rippled sand, as if he's on a beach.
A wonderful entry, and although I don't think you'll need it, best of luck!
