OMG Pat, this is just SO adorable! I can see where she would definitely have her wings full dealing with this sizeable brood of cuties! What a great capture; focus and exposure are excellent, the whole scene is beautifully composed; lucky you to eat to see and photograph them!

A great nature shot, Pat, showing this busy Mother Merganser. (I'm not familiar with this waterbird). She has a rather unusual look. But the clarity is so good with a lot of detail shown and the chicks are adorable.

A wonderful picture of the Merganser surrounded by her ducklings some travelling on her back. The sky reflected on the water around the Merganser mum. Wonderful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Really good wildlife shot Pat and the fact she has all her chicks must be a record usually a few get to dissapear etc,it is a different perspective to see but a good one and well done for getting this....Brian

What an accomplished photographer you are. And what an accomplished mother this Merganser is. This is quite a photograph tells quite a story. I love the composition as well. I do wonder how you got the water highlight reflection only around the mother and ducklings. It really centers the focus of attention. Reasons for my six-star vote.
