Hi Brian, Yes! I was standing on the beach. The only cormorants around were the ones on the pilings. I really had to zoom in to get the shot. I would have liked to zoom in on a single nest too but my camera didn't have the power to do that. They were a good distance away. I was still blown away by the amount of Cormorants on the pilings. This was only the 2nd time I'd seen a sight like this and in the same place as before. I felt so lucky to have seen it! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

looks like a bunch of hungry birds. that is one pier i wont bring my fishing pole too..lol. nice capture. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of all these birds hanging around the pier is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

If you feel a bite on your line it just might be one of the parents of these guys trying to steal your fish! LOL Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

Hi Maureen, This wasn't even the whole pier! LOL Saw this sight for the first time one year ago. I was so hoping they'd be there this year! I couldn't wait to go back and get a closer look! I think in this shot .... give or take ..... there were 32 birds. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

Hi Nancy. this is beautiful picture of an old dock occupied by a flock of Cormorants. These are big birds with an impressive wing span. I watch You tube and I am on a feed of land for sale in Maine, simply said beautiful all those lakes. Have a wonderful time in Maine. Ray

Hi Ray, I had never seen a sight like this until two years ago. Definitely wanted to stop there again and get a lot closer! Somewhere in my portfolio I have a picture with a cormorant with wings fully spread. My brother's favorite lakes up there for fishing are Meddybemps, Pocomoonshine and Boyden. If there is a boat launch anywhere up there he'll stop and fish there to, even if he doesn't have his boat. ....... I did have a fun time up there! Thanks for the great review and short vacation wishes! :o) Nancy

Hi there, what a lovely glimpse into nature's rhythm! The young cormorants must've been a lively sight, and your photo brings that coastal charm right to us. Looking forward to the osprey image too. Thanks for sharing your beautiful moments from Maine!

A good looking nature image presented here! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very enjoyable view of that large collection of birds and their location. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well taken!

A lovely nature photograph; I've never seen this many cormorants in one place, quite an exciting sight. Unfortunately their images are not as clear as they could be.

Hi Michele, This is only the second time I've come across a nesting colony like this! The focus looks good to me but I trust your judgement. I'm glad that despite the focus being a little off in your eyes you still enjoyed! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

Hi Phyllis, Cormorants hunt for fish. They sit low in the water and dive under to catch them. It's always fun trying to figure out where they'll surface. You'll often see them at ponds or lakes, standing on rocks or branches in the water, spreading their wings to dry them. They nest in a colony in trees or cliffs. These guys were at the ocean nesting on the pilings of an old pier. I'm glad you enjoyed the image Thanks for the great revie :o) Nancy
