Paul this is a beautiful shot of this peck-a-wood. Sharp and bright colors with excellent faming and focus. A beautiful bird sits quietly for now. Ray.

Thanks Ray! Woke up on morning and there he was!
Hung out long enough to get a few shots off. He was pretty
far off so had to use a 2000 mm lens to get close enough.
I was happy for a hand held shot and some good software.

Nice shot Paul! I love the woodpecker against the intense blue of the sky! I think it makes a very nice shot! I like both the focus and lighting. The only thing I would have done different is shorten the space between his head and the top of the photo. Other than that suggestion I love the image. I even like the touch of the almost invisible clouds in the background. Nicely done and enjoyable to view!

Love the angle of this shot, Paul; it shows the woodpeckers colors and plumage very well against the blue sky. Focus and clarity are great. I'm thinking he probably found some good grubs in that tree.

the angle taken in this works well and it looks as if it does not know you were taking this[always good for wildlife i feel] not completely 100% about the sky color but takes nothing away from the image...Brian

    Thank you again Elisabetta!
I shot him at 2000 mm so he was way up there in
    the dead tree.

Such a beautiful find, Paul. I like how you have showcased this red head woodpecker against the blue-clouded sky. He is really standing out. Great angle, focus, and lighting. Nice long distance shot.

Thank you my friend! It was shot at 2000 mm
way up in a couple dead trees.

You've got that superb 2000 mm lens? That is so exceptional!

Well not quite. 3000 mm on the Nikon P1000. Its very nice for getting close but has a small censer. I love it for birding and moon photos!
3000 if you use the full digital zoom with it. The woodpecker was about 2000 mm and was hand held. I was pretty excited about that. All and all it seems like a pretty great camera. Had been waiting about two years to get hold of one!
