I really like the image. I love how you have developed it. It is excellent work, although I must say .it is not representative of the art nouveau period but not to worry because I think few people are aware of the difference between art nouveau and the art deco period that followed. Think Mucha, Capiello, Tiffany, Carabin. Nothing was ever diagonal. All curves and flow.

Thank you very much. That now is a review as I love them. That looks like the start to a very interesting discussion. I am a rebel. I don't agree that "Nothing was ever diagonal. All curves and flow." I believe the expressions of Art Noveau are quite different. Wile the Hundertwasser House in Vienna or Casa Batllo [Gaudi and Jujol] indeed are nothings but curves and flow the Eisenstein building in Riga is not flowing but of great symmetry with mostly rectangular windows and doors. Wile there are curves and flow in the paintings of for example Mucha, Beardsley and Biblin; Van de Velde's furniture seems more linear, with triangular shapes truth curved as well. Last not least Van de Velde's cover design for the 1908 Insel edition of Nietzsche's "Ecce Homo" seems to have the diagonal. Actually this design was in my mine when I designed Maiden. Maiden is composed similar to one half of this design. My picture is made of a quadruple of the same motive [the statuette] showing a rounded form [the head] in a curve [the arm]. I admit that I toke some artistic licence. I believe this is legal a century later. I believe we are not here to copy a style but being inspired by the masters of the past and may find something new. [Even the contest rules say "the work should be inspired by Art Noveau"]. I hope you don't mine this little discussion. Life would be boring if we all would think alike and of curse I could be totally wrong with what I think. I hope to her from you again. Thank you for your inspiring review.

Indeed I am not at all offended. I will say you have cited examples I am not familiar with for the most part. I will say that Gaudi 's work is not considered Art Nouveau. You may very well be right based on your examples. From my point of view, I have never seen in a Galle table , a Tiffanny or a LaTrec, or even a Henry van de Velde, that was not all curves and flow. However I do not doubt you. I think it is possible that what I loved in Art Nouveau is all I desired to see and you may have seen things differently. Thank you for your very informative response and I wish you good luck with your entry. Bren

Thank you for your kind reply. You are right, Gaudi is indeed a point of discussion. I personally think he dos not represent any style but his own. But my view is contaminated with growing up in Europe and the fact that Art Deco was not really realized as an own style until the 80's. I'm affraid I see things very differently. I am known as a rebel. But anyway wile the Sagrada Family clearly is not Art Noveau Park Guell [Barcelona 1900-1907] seems to have parallels to Art Noveau and Casa Mila [Barcelona 1905-1907] seems to remind of the Hundertwasser House. I have to admit that I do not know for sure how the US-American view of Gaudi is but in the current version of Wikipedia Gaudi in named as one of the most important Architects of the Art Noveau style. I need to look closer at the American version of the Art's and especially have to get more familar with the American view of the atists and art styles.
Thanks again for your toughtfull reply.

You have captured this image just right, perfectly framed and sharp in color. Really good close up and not having to worry too much about background with it being so limited. Well done, a good effort!

Thank you very much for your kind review. This is not a photo but a mixed media. It is based on a photo of a broken statuette.
