Bromeliad

I think this is a truly beautiful painting of a Bromeliad. I have to admit that I thought this plant was a lot darker, but as so many other plants they probably come in many different variations. It is anyway the light pastel colors I like the best in this image, and also the fine light you have brought into this work by the good use of high light on the left side.

You have also brought out very fine textures in the petals, and very nice shadings. Your brush work us smooth and accurate, and it just strikes me how much digital work like this resembles oil paintings.

The tight framing works really well and the center of the plant is nicely set off to the right, giving the composition a very fine balance. I honestly think this is a lovely and well crafted digital painting, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you very much for your throughout and very encouraging comments.
Bromeliads come indeed in a wide variety. There are 51 native species in the tropical jungles of the Americas so far I know. I am not sure about hybrids, but they might be numerous as well. I am fascinated with them due to their beauty and the ability of many of the known species seem to change apperance with changing light or climate conditions. I probably will be post other species in time.

You are more than welcome, and I actually like this plant as well. Here I have to buy them as an indoor plant, and I found one looking like yours, I would buy it straight away.

I am not sure if this one would grow indoors. I have seen this kind only in the jungle, but never sold anywhere, not even in Central America.

The do sell them here, because I have had a few. They do loose their colors after a while though.

Do your plants bloom? The plants usually loose color if they have not much light. The one which grow high in the trees have the prettiest leave colors and the biggest stands of blossoms. The plants at the lowest level are often just dark green. The plant in the painting changes the leave colors by season. It has only a few small blossoms on short stalks. The blossoms are a centimeter wide or less and hidden beneath the water in the center.

Wow...very cool!
Color composition is delightful. Angle is nice. I like the use of light to build dimension through brightness and shadow.

Well done and thanks for sharing.
