WOW! How very! nice to have flower gardens like this!! I like the path leading the viewer thru the garden. ...the variety of colors and shapes is just outstanding. But, the variety and shapes (including those rocks) is too much for the viewer to take in... the eye has nowhere to rest.

The 'path' is my road Nan. Looks like you might find all my gardens too much. I purposely splash color (flowers) around and rocks surround every single bed....a lot of hard work. None of this happens by chance. Not to everyone's taste but it's the way I like to do it. Appreciate you checking it out and offering your ideas though.

I bet my rock collection is bigger than yours Sange....lol....didn't know you collected rocks. I have surrounded all my beds w/ rocks....so there's zillions. My favorites are the large white granite ones. They sparkle!! Thanks so much for having a look at this one. I was pretending it was summer time when I posted it.

Deborah,
A stunning picture of the Snake's Skin flower bed full of colourful flowers & greenery along with the flowers you mention I can see Rudbeckia in the distance & Foxgloves?Digitalis & a member of the small Sunflower family with deep orange & yellow tipped petals. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. I hope the snakes are not too dangerous?

Completely harmless Susan. What a good eye you have. Yes...lol I have tons of stuff packed in this bed. I look at my gardens like a canvas and the flowers are the paint I splash everywhere. Thank you so much for having a really good luck. I do really appreciate it.

    Deborah,
Thank yo. Ireland has no Native Snakes St Patrick got rid of them??? Apparently the acid soil does not suit them. Though recently in some Urban areas pet snakes have escaped to terrify the "Natives"

They are just little garden or 'garter' snakes here Susan. 12-15" typically. Big enough to surprise the hell out of me when they slither by unexpectedly...lol...but are usually looking to get away from me pretty quickly too.

My Grandmother was from Detroit the eldest of 12 children There are stories that a few of her delightful brothers would collect the shed skins of Garter snakes & hang them on door knobs to frighten their mother..boys will be boys. When we live in Zimbarbwe or as it then was Southern Rhodesia my mother told me later she found me one day sitting on a door step trying to stretch out a baby Puff Adder in my tiny hands (I was 2yrs old) she also reported seen snakes sunning on the rocks in the garden behind the house after rain. None of us got bitten Deo Gratis.

Oh what a marvelous story Susan. I have some great photos of a little boy holding one of the garter snakes he found sunning themselves on one of my rocks. I'll have to post that one. It's a really funshot.

awww...you are a romantic sg! Me too I guess as I couldn't resist the name of that beautiful little NIGELLA myself. Just so you know I WILL get to your new posts. This first week or so of the new year has been a little rough up here weather-wise and I keep falling behind. Thank you so much for checking out this post and saying such nice things about it.

a very nice view of one of your gardens, Deb.
as I enjoy the old road keeping it that old look.
it sounds like you put a lot of work in before creating them all as this is no 35 so the yard must be beautiful when they bloom. nice work and planning.
always,
ron

glad you enjoy it as it seems you do a lot of homework before leaping in. :-)
your welcome as I know it must be a lot of hard work. something the new generation has no concept of.

I think of my flower beds as my canvas Ron and my flowers the paint I use to make a picture. But you're right. Hard work does not frighten me in the least.

    H Deborah,
that is nice to hear you put in so much time before creating it. as I have to do some around hear in the spring but need a truck. :-)
glad to hear that as you get to relax and enjoy your hard work. :-)
    always,
runtime to play catch up after missing a few days, tough typing with one finger. :-)
