First time for me to see this handsome beast. How lucky for us that we are surrounded by "wee beasties" like this.
Grace, does he have a nictitating membrane...I think most likely he does?
Your image has good dof bokeh to help focus on his face and scales. The eye is sharp "as a woman's tongue" and did you lighten it too, if you did, it is subtle. The colour palette natural and the temperature is a warm cast.
Educational post...thank you as I enjoy learning something new.

Great shot! You capture all the detail in the scales, red eye and blue tongue. Thank you for the education. I never heard of a skink before. Who wouldn't be scared off by a blue tongue?

Thank you! I guess the inside of their mouths are pink and they also hiss when they are trying to scare off predators!

I thought it woukd be a skunk! LoL!
Now another rare find I've met even just in photo...from another part of the world!
Sharply focused. Fine, gentle facial features & smooth shiny textures.
Gorgeous one sided illumination.
Thanks for sharing...

Thank you Sean! I waited a long time to get a shot with his blue tongue. They flick them pretty fast and not when you want them too :)
