The bird looks cute with that ruffled crown. The bird is sharp focused. Its plumage has refined detail. It seems to be chilly or hot. So far as I know they ruffle their feathers to keep their body temperature constant. The colors are beautifully realistic. The shallow bokeeh at the background emphasizes the Robin. The bird is well placed into the frame. The composition is balanced.

Cleo,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little puffed up Robin with it's reffeled crown ...it was not either cold or hot I think it was probably just shaking off the falling rain.

a very good close up of this robin perched on the pergola, above your head; I like the ruffled feathers on his head; sharp focus with natural coloers;

A beauty of a bird. I like the windblown look and the very fine detail in the plumage. The colors are beautiful as usual and the background is exceptionally attractive.

Birds have these wonderfully curious expressions. I shouldn't say it, but when my mum got very old, in her nineties, she used to have a similar sort of expression!! Honestly. In this pic. our Robin does not look as relaxed as they do at times. Lovely snap.

Birds don't get ruffled too often at the feeders here, but during the winter when the winds rip across the lake, it creates some very interesting bird profiles. Catching the robin this way makes your composition come to life and adds an element of interest. All camera techniques were well managed.

Charlie,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little Robin.
The fact it's going through the moult with loose feathers being pushed out from below by the new ones underneath makes it easier for the breeze to ruffle the feathers.

I just photographed what I thought was a new bird. It turned out to be a northern cardinal going through the same process. Sure had me fooled for a bit.
