Strong emotional impact: I have looked at this image several times, each time it pulls me in and I feel anxious and sad, and proud all at the same time, anxious because of what these young pilots have signed up to do and how dangerous the missions really are, sad, thinking of the parents of the young men and how they were so proud yet so afraid. This B -17 bomber aircraft sits in the darkness waiting , the two young men ready to go carry out their mission, . This is well photographed , your use of mixed media effectively establishes the somber mood associated with this subject matter, I can feel your emotion in this scene. It is a fantastic tribute to your father, this honors his memory, I'm sure you are proud of him.
Well presented, Best wishes to you in this contest. I must say, I don't think that an image posted here has ever had the emotional impact that this one has had on me. May God bless you !

Very sad story, my great grand father was a WWII Air Force general. I also believe he was a bombardier as well but I don't know. I sadly never got to meet him. There is an old black and white photo of him walking from his aircraft hanging on the wall right out side my door. WWII is a fascinating and somber topic for me so seeing this photo is very nice. I really like the emotion you captured in this photo.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing close loved ones is a difficult hurdle to get through. I appreciate your father's service. This is a lovely way to commemorate his memories.

I understand you wanting to make the overall composition dark and moody; however, there is too much darkness. It makes it hard to make sense of the image. I would suggest lightening the back of the bomber so the detailing can be seen. The overall feeling will continue to be somber, but the viewer could appreciate the detailing that was lost. Overall, it is a good photograph. Thank you so much for sharing your craftsmanship and opening your heart.

A splendid capture all the more made more meaningful by the tribute to your father. The interaction between the light and shadows have worked well. Good luck!

This is very dark and a must to be viewed on a large screen. Having said that it's quite beautiful. The detail is superb and I love the way you stage managed the angle to get that very dramatic effect. It had a lot yo mook at from th3 moon and clouds in that noght sky to tje silhouettes of far off parked planes. Th3 tail angke adds perspective and is all part of the drama. Interesting historic notes made this a true story. notes

The sky caught my eye more than the plane, it really looks awesome, make me think I am flying and looking behind for enemies, well done, sorry your dad had to go through the horrific part of war, people who go through this are never the same, great photo

A very good entry into the competition posted here with touching notes. Your dramatic composition gives voice to what those young men suffered during those trying years. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

I really like this photo being black and white and I see a great entry for the contest. I also loved reading the story that goes with this but hate to see him with PTSD. I know that you miss him but sometimes we can not even imagine what people go through at times like that. But you hear a lot of military people come home with that same thing. Maybe one day they will find a cure for that, you never know. I really appreciate you giving your Dad an honor like that and I know that he would be proud of that as well. Thanks for sharing this and the great story also. JackJr.
