I suppose wildlife in the raw can be brutal as well as giving a wonderfull sense of nature, think your words go with the image better than without them, why i say that is the image of the bisons just needed to be a bit more bigger in this [and no probarly that was not possible] but still interesting...Brian

Interesting subject and observations. I was wondering, with the size of that mother, the intentioins of the much smaller coyote and possibility of its success. Then you explained everything and all went into places. Nice background of the shrubbery too.

A very nice shot. I like the panoramic presentation that really tells this story. Fine details and great colors. Best of luck in the contest.

Excellent and instructive commentary to go with this image.
This reminds me of Yellowstone where for the most part I grew up. The bleached fallen tree in the background is typical of the area.
A great capture of the dance of nature in action which is not often seen nor appreciated.
A great entry for the contest. I wish you all the best in the judging.

Whether it's 'Art' or 'Journalism' it's a very well-photographed scene,Ruth Ann,and it's an interesting one too!
It makes me think of how a Utahraptor ( or a similar predator ) might have looked if it was hungry enough ( or silly enough! ) to try 'making a move' on a Mannitobaceratops calf while the mother was nearby way back in prehistoric times!
