Thank you very much for the thought and the photo. I can only speak for one American, myself, but I do appreciate it. One thing that always amazes me is how much people in other countries know about us and how very little most Americans know about other countries, and I include myself. We are taught very little in school about other countries and very few kids finish their education actually speaking a foreign language. We really do expect people to speak English. I don't think we are exactly arrogant, I think we actually just DO NOT even think about it. It is so much a part of our culture that we don't even give it a thought. I want to thank you very much for your post. Karan

Thank you very much for the review. You are right. Also I feel that we know so much more about you than you of us. But Norway is a small country with only 5 million people. It is true about languages as well. I would say that all Norwegians can speak English. Especially young people. I had both French and German in school, and our history lessons included the whole world.

We do have World History classes, but they are electives and most kids don't have time to take them, and I don't think they learn much even if the do. I think it is just part of our culture and from the time when we practiced isolationism and wanted nothing to do with Europe. We contended that their problems had nothing to do with us. I don't see our attitude changing. It has become a political issue now.

Yes, it is. We really do miss a great deal. Our regular news coverage has very little about the rest of the world, unless it is war or a national disaster or a roayal wedding.
