Super shot Fred, could also work in the journalism category. A wonderful portrait view, focus, frame and a dark background to show the natural environment and details on this lady.

WOW again, can it be I remember this one? Or was it a different - she is fantastic and your shot outstanding in showing exactly her life style, attitudes and character - naturally beautiful, hard life but enjoying these moments of contemplation through a hand made cigar
super angle, fantastic focus, I love that she is not looking into your camera as that makes it really special in ambiance and genuine impression
fantastic camera settings contrast and lighting , pin sharp, amazing job, thanks for sharing

She doesn't look like she is enjoying it very much! LOL I think this would be a good reminder of why not to smoke! Great focus! The colors are good! Well done my friend and thanks for sharing! Lilibug6

I love cultural photos Fred and the portrait of this lady smoking her cigar is fabulous. The squinting eyes and rolling smoke make for a wonderful action, love her portable ashtray made of coconut shell. Excellent sharp focus, DOF, exposure and framing. Good luck in the contest!:)

I am an anthropologist so I love this sort of thing. I want to know more! Good capture. Between the smoke and the look in her eyes, along with the great story telling, this is worth of National Geographic. Thanks for this. Cheers, James. PS. More please!

I meant post more of this type. Contest irrelevant.

Hey, I have a photo like this too, but different lady!
Supergold, the contest rules say:
The theme for this contest is portrait. This is a traditional photography contest. Do not make edits to your photo using software.
You have used a Guassean Blur ? (I'm guessing) as the background is blurred but you have a strong and sharp delineation between background and the edge around her. This is a flaw in post processing manipulation.
I do like the shot tho' shows us another life in a faraway exotic land.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

What a great portrait of this lady enjoying one of the I imagine few pleasures life brings her. What a great idea the coconut ashtray, wonder if it will catch on over here.

A beautiful picture of this Burmese Lady enjoying her Cigar while she watches the World go by around her. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with razor sharp focus.

This is a stunning shot. Technically, I think, it is flawless: the woman's features are beautifully captured, the composition is carefully and intelligently thought out, and the light and shadow effects are exquisite. Bravo!
