Grace,
A brilliant stop action picture of the male Cardinal bird landing on the boardwalk's railing to pick up seed & as he lands the Housefinch feeling intimidated takes off both feet just off the railing. the sunlight shining thought their wing feathers giving the flight feathers a glow. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

That's a very interesting picture that you've presented us with here,my friend!
I'm not sure if I'd describe the Cardinal as being 'mean' to the other birds since being a brightly colored and naturally dominating creature is simply 'nature's way' for him but I understand what you're saying! : )
'Good Show',my friend!

I know how hard it is to get a photo like this. I have been trying for days and can't get one bird in flight, let alone two birds. The sun highlights the feathers very well. The focus is excellent. I like the background blur. So I'm curious. Who won?

Thank you! The cardinal definitely won this round :) I appreciate the six star rating, and your nice comments. the trick to getting birds in flight is a high shutter speed, 1/2000 to 1/3200 works best depending on the light.

I have a bird feeder in my yard. The best way to get a bird picture is climbing in a chair and shooting out the window. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't.

Hahaha! Sounds comfy, or dangerous if you're standing on the chair!

Quite an interesting nature action shot posted here! Your fine composition grants us an enjoyable view of the dispute!! Looks like size is winning over speed! Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Lol, I think size is usually the winner in the bird world. Thank you :)

Nice stop of this action, this tells the story well! I love the way the light is coming through the cardinals wings , and the poor little house finch looks like he's putting on his brakes to get out of there! Well focused, the image is clear to view, I see good eye contact on the cardinal. Well composed and presented!
