The front one looks like a woman and is being chased by a man. I would find that a bit unnerving to be honest.
However my fears asides, it is a good idea to use open space like this.
Your photograph is very good Annie, showing us good detail.

You are right they look good in the snow. Good Initial Impact,with a great Center of Interest. The Color Harmony is great. There is a great Story Telling Ability there. Lighting is good.
