Thanks BFF. Yes I wanted to do something different for the pet contest just for the fun of it. I don't expect it to go anywhere in the contest as it is way out of the box from the usual dog and cat photos. Thanks BFF and I hope all is going well ~ BFF

This is beautiful! The colors in the sky and reflecting on the water are lovely. The silhouette of the dog is great. I like how it shows him playing tug of war. Great entry for the contest! Best of luck!

IPhone let me know if I get to metaphysical with your artwork! But you have a very innate way of symbolizing a story through the light and dark process of photography. The tug of war seems to be not wanting to let go. The silhouette quality is a very nice narrative element. I can see this on many levels but I'm going to tell you the one I see it on right now. the beautiful sky represents Paradise or call it heaven. In the Forefront there are three figures. The tension built between the dog and the one playing tug-of-war could be a symbol of letting our loved ones go to walk that path over the darkness into Paradise which is shown through the beautiful sunset with the outline or silhouette a palm trees. The dog is man's best friend in symbolism. Maybe this is a married couple someone is about to make their transition from the physical world to that of the spiritual. The other person feels like they will be left behind they want that person to stay with them sometimes out of selfishness sometimes just out od need and we don't let go, we don't want to let go so we find ways to keep that person alive. Be it through life support, denial or right down insecurities. But we all will go through letting go of someone and that process is a tug of war. Keep going with this. I don't know how much you know of metaphysics and symbolism? If you don't know very much get some resources and check out what images can represent.

I see this as a struggle that man is constantly engaged in. We get distracted by things that do not matter in the larger scheme of things while all the time being surrounded by the beauty of Freedom which we fail to see. Preoccupied with those things that mean very little and we have become 'Human Doings' and have forgotten that we are 'Human Beings'. I remember a story of a couple that had been married for 70 years. She died and was buried on a hill. When they asked the old man how he was doing he said "It's been a good day". They asked how could that be. The old man replied "Because she died first." He loved her so much that he wanted to spare her the sadness and ache of being the one who is temporarily left behind. He wanted the Best for Her. If we believe in an afterlife of Peace and Bliss then truly we would mourn the birth of a baby (who must go through all the struggles and pain of life) and celebrate the death of those we care about the most as they are now FREE of the bonds that hold us earthbound.
Wonderful insight Kurt. So many look and do not see. I very much like your interpretation of this image. There will be a few more postings coming and I will be most interested in your interpretation beyond the superficial qualities of the image. The format you have cropped the photo into Works well, and With the fine placement of the dog and the People, it is a fine Balance in the composition. A truly great looking and well taken photo.

This is really cool, how the colors come together with the beautiful gradients in the sky, the wet sand, amidst the black contrasts of the rest of the background. The people and the pet in the bottom add very well to the photo, showing a leisurely scene with this dramatic sky in the background.

Oh, you really know how to compose a scene. The linear forms of the palms in the background picked up by the dog and human forms in the foreground. The smooth sky repeated in the surf reflection. The dark background horizon again repeated in the forms and the beach in the foreground. This is a really beautiful picture that makes you want to be there. Reasons for my five star vote.
