Facing my strongest Fear

Snake around the neck

That was an encounter facing your strongest fear which yielded a very dramatic photograph. Converting the image into black and white and with your excellent skill in editing you were able to lighten up the snake, darken the background and hence magnify and focus on the very image of your nightmare. I cannot tell with any certainty whether the background in this composition or the light and shades thereof are original or not, however they certainly adds to the drama and the haunting fears it beholds. I would bring more balance to this composition by letting the tail of the snake emerge from its dark shadow by widening the angle of the flood light to the left side of the frame. Overall, it's an evocative composition dominated by the singularity of an awesome snake. I like it.

I, too, have held a snake like this. They actually feel like silk. You've gotten the lighting just right. The snake really stands out with your daughter holding it.

Congratulations on conquering your fear. I got a good chuckle from your artist notes. Your daughter doesn't seem to be too concerned about the snake.

Very nice photo. Don't let your daughter make a habit of wrapping snakes around her neck, though. It's not only dangerous but it's actually bad for the snake's body.

Your daughter is a lot braver than I. Good shot considering all the various circumstances. Wondered why we haven't seen any posts from you lately.

I would never be able to take this photograph if my wife was with me - she would still be screaming - lol - I think this looks great in Black and White - wonderful detail especially with a flash - looks great with the dark shadows around it. Yea - the snake looks good too...I Just wont show my wife - ..

I like this very much, the contrast between the background, the figure and the snake makes b w a great choice, only criticism is there seems to be a slight shadow over her face

For one not caring about settings and so on, this photo turned out quite well in my opinion.

changing the medium to B/W? Although the photo came out great in B/W, I like snakes a lot and I would have enjoyed seeing the color(s) of the snake. I'm glad you broke down that fear. Almost all snakes are more frightened of you than you of them (but then you probably have heard that many times).

I especially like the contrast of the black background against the lighting of the snake and the partial lighting of against your daughter's face. Her expression also is great; i really like how her eyes stand out. Kudos to your daughter.

That's a great looking snake by the way. Perhaps some might complain about her one hand being dark and part of the snake being cut off but that hardly matters in this photo in my opinion.

So this was one of yours! I kept wondering whose picture it might be. I am just the opposite of you...one of my dreams was to milk poisonous snakes. fortunately I became a geologist instead!...LOL
