The story, and others like it, are ones that need to be remembered and not made out to be a fairy tale like many people are trying to do today. Your composition is perfect to help us remember the injustices that were committed during WWII. That is what a great picture is supposed to do. It is suppose to speak to you like this one does to me.

The shadows of the past. Still disturbing, because it happened again and again throughout times that people like Father Kolbe sacrificed themselves for the seek of others, wile humanoid monsters exercised unthinkable brutalities on other races or other nations. A well executed mixed media, surely bringing over the meaning. The sepia is enhancing the picture. An excellent contest entry; best luck.

A very powerful image of a history that we do not want to relive. The sepia toning and selective highlighting of the building marker really drive it home. A fine tribute.

Really like this old building.Like the creativity presentation with the jail bird in the thirds. Good lighting. Nicely done.

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I think it is very important that we don't forget. I also hope the future generations will learn about what happened. I have very often thought the same as you. How did the survivers make it ?

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I have photos of other blocks as well, but since this story was connected to Block 14a I picked this photo to show for it. I have never felt the way I did spending a day in Auschwitz. It was bitterly cold and windy, and then we were told that towards the end of the war prisoners had to leave the concentration camp because the Russians were coming too close. With very thin clothes and hardly any proper shoes they had to set out for this long walk in minus 40 degrees Celcius. Only 10 % survived. These stories have a very strong impact on me.

What a remarkable photograph. You did an excellent job on this. Such a horror to be told. I visited Dachau years ago and will never forget the strange feeling I got from there. This is excellent.

A powerful image that so well documents a powerful memory. The use of the sepia gives us nostalgia and a sense of the unreal. Good composition and the ethereal quality of the figure. Great work since we must always remember so we don't repeat my friend. Cyn

If I had a 6 I would give it to you.

This is a very powerful image. I particularly like the ghostly prisioner (and he looks much better than many of the prisioners who actually lived (or existed) at Auschwitz.

I love the sepia tone of the image and the simple door with signage. The brick facade adds to the character of the image.

The exposure is spot on as is the composition.

Great image!
