Very interesting statue, maybe a prisoner in a prison cell? Makes me wonder about the story behind this bronze statue. got to be a story here. The bars are very rusted and old looking. If you ran into this on a dark Halloween night it would give you a scare alright. Good photo Fred but it leaves me curious as to its meaning. Thanks for sharing it.

Interesting. I wonder what the story behind this statue is. It appears he is languishing in a cage. He has been there so long the vegetation is literally growing up around him. You have captured the colors well. the rusty bars pop out.

Can`t think of another possibility, but then I don`t know French history as well as you do :) ... among other things, including eyes :) Nice shot, clear, well-framed, like the shadows, e.g. under raised arm. All around a fine work!
