Those eyes! Wowzers Cleo!
They just pull you in!. Love the black on black, the low key style, the crouched about to pounce pose and those incredible eyes.
Hate to be in this cats sight line!
Incredible work Cleo!!!

Really good expression, good highlights on the fur, the eyes are great. Only taking points off for being incomplete, and I'd like to see the mouth area more defined, not sure if I'm looking at teeth or not. I'm sure when it's finished it'll be great!

wow Cleo! Amazing in the details... I really want to see this one completed without that dark mark on bottom left.

But your fur-o-cious stare of the kitty is so perfect I just had to give this a six!!

The dark mark is the tree stump I will not be able to finish it for sometime because my computer crashed.

a brilliant picture in the making. such a great capture and was just around my friends house who has a similar black cat (but smaller version). when you complete you can show again as it is a classic coming true.

Thank you very much! I surely will re-post when it is finished, but it will be a while. This kind of work is very time consuming.

This is magnificent digital art! The way the animals ears are so alert, the eyes so compelling with so much emotion. The way his mouth is open as if to pounce. The movement of this animal and the glow to the fur all make this an interesting piece. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing!

Stunning piece Cleo and really good notes explaining the condition of melanism.

Really like the way the light accentuates the sleekness of his black coat....beautiful work there. Eyes and whiskers really well done too. I'd love to see this again when you finish your background and tree trunk. Hope you'll re-post or let us know??

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments. I surely will re-pose when the painting is finished, but it will be a while. I am a very slow worker.

Powerful fellow - great play on the capture of him as well. The lighting perfectly offers up the moment with the headlights and still gives us a grand view. Great color as well so exposure handled! Wonderful focus as well. The angle to the shot - fabulous. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much for your encouraging review.
This is not a photo, but a painting.
Comment from Browncat

The motion in this cat is really outstanding. Those of us who own cats recognize the posture of feline fear. I know nothing about digital art from photos so don't know what's possible, but adding some sharpness to the left side of the picture will finish it nicely.

This is not made from a photo. It is a painting. As I wrote in my notes, it is an unfinished work, which I will re-pose when it is finished.

Cleo, this is an astonishing Digital Painting. When it came up I thought what a great photograph of this cat. Then I saw it was your painting, holy cow! This is extremely lifelike, yet it is a bit softer and more pleasing than a photograph would be. I can see the vague shadings of the tree trunk, not sure it needs any more work however, it might detract from the great image of the cat, complete with the shine and details of the fur. Best of luck in the contest, in my book this is a winner!

    Sorry for the late reply.
[I had to have it removed from the contest because I overlooked that the contest was for traditional art only.]
