I am the widow of a Navy sailor, so I know that many military retires feel this way, especially the veterans of foreign wars. Nobody is save from memories, but family and friends can help and make life easier for such who suffer. Your photo is a strong reminder for us that all of us have this responsibility. Your mixed media is excellently composed. The technical quality matches the importance of its message. The colors are realistic. The man is perfectly placed within the frame.

Thank you so much Cleo. I too was moved when I visited the wall. I saw this man quietly sitting in deep emotional thought. I was very careful not to disturb him or disrespect his feelings. Poor guy. Remembering lost friends is always so painful. Thank you for your personal comments Cleo. And thank you for your Grand rating. I am Honored ~ Steve

Hi Steve, I can't even imagine what it's like to be in the Army and come back to civilian life. I think it would be especially hard if you were in any kind of battle. To forget what you saw it seems would be impossible.
I think your image represents that feeling well. I can imagine this soldier reminising about the friends he lost... and how he's going to get his life together again. He looks like he's lost in thought at the Memorial. I think I thanked you before for your service, but I think it's nice to hear no matter how many times you hear it. This shot depicts so much of how one feels. Great Job! Just the man looking downward says a lot!
Thank you for your service Steve and God Bless you!

Thank you so much Nancy for your personal comments. They mean a lot. Yes it is very difficult for many combat veterans to remember those that never made it back. As far as thanking me for my service all I can say is 'You are Very welcome' Nancy.
Thank you for your thoughts and your More than Generous rating. I am honored ~ Steve

Just know you're not forgotten and a lot of people appreciate your service to our country. I know you help a lot of broken soldiers and that is a wonderful gift. I hope that helps you as well Steve! :o) Nancy

Diane did an amazing job on that video.. left me in tears.
This piece is so common of those who feel like they have their own fears and dreads of living that life they left behind and the life they now live in.
My good friend was in Viet Nam and an artist that documented the war while he was there. Even has a book out that is fascinating.
Thanks for bringing this to light BFF. You and those who have served now and before are to be commended for all they gave up and continue to give up on a daily basis.
Love you BFF.

Aw thank you so much BFF. We all did our duty; went where we were told to go and do what we had to do. That was just the way it was. Sometimes bored to tears other times scared sh*tless. But that was what it was. I don't think any of us consider ourselves special. We all know that there were guys that had it a lot rougher than we did. Many with permanent wounds and many that just didn't make it back.
Sorry. Enough of that. Diane deserves the Real credit for this one. She found a photo with a poem and turned it into a video. It brought me to tears when I first saw it. What a Generous Act of Kindness. Thanks again BFF. Love you too ~ BFF

Its an acknowledgement, I just want to express My gratitude to Steve and Our Service People! My late Uncle was a WW2 Veteran Who served with the Marines at Guadalcanal)....God Bless You Brother! Thank You for Your dedication and service to and for America Steve!....You did more than Your part in making this country a place where people like Me can live within the peace and dignity of freedom, I am sorry to say this but, Our government simply does not take care of Our service People properly! So please believe there are those of Us who are profoundly grateful for Your sacrifices and can only aspire to be like You! THANK YOU.

A beautiful shot that captures that lonesome feeling very eloquently. I like this composition but wonder if you ever tried cropping off the city view at the top.

Thanks Mike. Never crossed my mind to crop down. That is what was needed. Good eye. Thanks.

I guess its difficult to comprehend someone who has done service for his country when most of us civilians would not really understand what it means.
good thoughts go into this and it gives of a sense of peace, what I feel that would make this more in keeping would be to crop down to the top of the screen, and try b/w Steve...Brian

Thanks Brian. Excellent catch. I totally overlooked cropping out the top distracting space. Made the correction and it is much better. Thanks Brian ~ Steve

Steve.
I saw that Memorial when I visited Washington DC & that very moving Memorial to those who lost their lives in Vietnam along with Korean Memorial & the Iwo Jima Monument left me with a lasting memory. My Grandfather is buried in France in the region of the Somme while his brother is inscribed on the Menin Gate at Ypres both killed in the First World War. My Father could not talk about it. It takes real courage & bravery to go into battle I salute you. The picture & the UTube are beautiful & full of meaning.

Thank you so much Susan for your wonderful commentary and Grand rating. I think there are very few families that do not have a relative or know someone who has been involved in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan. Most won't talk about it. No need to. We all just did our duty and that was the way it was.
Thank you again Susan for your moving commentary and Grand rating ~ Steve
