Great use of digital after effects particularly in the softness of the textures and the depiction of teh colouring of both the bird and the background. Defining the eye slightly more would have completed the image

When i saw i thought its some watercolor painting. Then i red your note and got surprised. Its a wonderfull mixmedia photograph and the way you have applied the filters. It really looks like a brush painting. Good detailed highlights and shadows. very Well done!

I think you've done well with this and you've really delivered us some great info, its sad but true. I think you did good job on restoring this to a lovely photo, love the colors on his back.

Ambiance all the way, cleo.

I feel one will strongly like this or strongly dislike it.

But what I strongly like is the use of nuances: or to be more literal, the use or awareness of subtle shades of meaning or feeling, especially in the artistic expression.

I've seen many nice photos of the Macaw, some of them I think of as exceptional, but I don't think another pretty photo is your intent here. What places your work onto the exceptional plane is how you've incorporated the endangered "feeling" into your image and onto the expression of the parrot.

Not an easy undertaking but I think you met the challenge beautifully and rendered a strikingly strong statement.

But this is what I find exciting about the style of your observations and your photography. You always seem to pull us (the viewer) into your metaphysical study of the nature of being and beings.

And therein seems to be the genuine representational strength of what I see here. Don't know how you did it (speaking of different filters and layers) - and it doesn't really matter. I doubt if it could be replicated. Such is the nature of art. And to see the completed work as a destination - implies that there were many variable encountered in arriving there. But that is another value and dimension you have given the intended art I see here.

In other words it speaks. What more can we ask.

Exceptionally so.

Thank you so much. You made my day. That is exactly it. I didn't want another pretty picture but the story.
I could get the feeling that this bird was thinking something, knowing something. And I don't know if he was smiling at me or laughing about me.

LOL - I think he was just being mysterious and mischieveous - knowing you would have to figure out which was his intent - probably a little of both.

    I agree!

This is a great job you have done on this image with the filters and the layers. Not so sure though the scan has worked that well for this. I think some of the resolution has been lost as I believe an image like this needs to have the best resolution it can just because of the type of photo it is with the colourful bird!

Thank you for your honest critic. I like a honest critic even if I don't agree always.
It was an old photo [on film] but it had a brilliant solution and so did the scan. It was on paper with slightly hurricane damaged edges. The negative didn't survived the hurricanes. I don't have the original scan anymore but a clear and crispy restored photo image. But I didn't want this picture to look photo like. I changed it with different layers and filters. The look what it has now is international. I wanted this watercolor look. It is digital but it is a painting now. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Very colorful and clever rendition of the proud bird. I like the color choice and especially the background handling. Nice mood and great design.

Very effective treatment, Cleo. I like the lack of detail and the greater concentration of colour. The Macaw seems to have a character of its own - you can almost see him looking at the viewer and thinking. There seems to be a hint, also, of a little smile.

Lovely work.

That's absolute right. I had the feeling with this guy that he was smarter then me. and just let me do the photographing because he chose to be a model. Thanks for the nice review.

This is cool! I like the way you blurred the background, and focused on the beautiful, interesting bird! Parrots are an amazing addition to the HUMAN race! Great work! Peace, Julie

Additional Comments: Love what you did here. Colors are wonderful on the bird,,not so sure about background..But that's me.
Suggestions: see arrow -maybe some integration with this color or some purples to "connect" the bird with the background?
