This is so very well done. It is a great Maratime painting. The colors are soft but the lines are strong, Just great. Thank you for sharing your talent.

A wonderful talent you are thats for sure.

Great traditional work. Love the shade of blue you have used on this one. You can see the wind in the sails.
Great work, nice lighting. Love your waves too.

Nice piece, like the perspective in this it really works.

Great detail in the ship really looks like its struggling through stormy seas.

Good depiction of power in the waves.

Seems to have lasted well considering its 15 years since it was painted.

Thanks for sharing this, Mark

Thank you for the great review, Mark! This one was framed under glass, and sitting in my studio for at least 10 of those 15 years. So it has been pretty well protected from any type of light.

This looks well done, the proportions are great, do the colors look the same in real life?

The sky may be a tad lighter on the right side. I didn't want to use a flash, because it always bleaches out the colors too much. If I may ask, how do you do yours, Katya? Flash or ambient lighting? I think it would help also with a higher res chip. Don't get too technical if you answer :)) Thank you so much for the excellent rating!!

I found the best way to photograph paintings is in straight sunlight (outside to get the most light) by zooming in so the angle is not too wide or it'll distort the perspective, or if they are small enough I just scan them, I am not too technical myself:))

Thank you, Katya, that helps a lot. Will try that if I can find another painting worth posting :)

Very nicely done with the mixed media effect for this. Maybe though it does not need to be if you have painted it yourself. Using the watercolours has worked well here. The sailboat stands out so well. Nice detail in this.

Shawn, this is a very nice painting. It has so much natural balance and feel. I can almost smell the mist from the ocean and feel the wind in those sails. I also realise the difficulty in doing justice for your work with a photo. I try to see through the limitations hung on you by the photo and I realise that viewing the original is even better. Very fine painting, Shawn!

I had to take the photo with my cellphone :) Which was really bad, because I had to deal with a lot of jpeg artifacts. Lost a lot of detail in the water, etc., in trying to get rid of it. Thanks a million, Mike, for looking past all that, and for the excellent rating and review.

This is certainly a wonderful painting even if the photo is not great!. The wave action and the very low light depicted really make the viewer get lost at sea.. Great detail and color and a joy to view.. Thanks...Dennis
