Coatimundi in Yucatans jungle

We have Raccoons but I've never heard of or seen the Coatimundis.

Interesting that this one is the lookout for the rest of the band. Sounds like they're a bit sophisticated. But then I can think of several other animals that have that sort of social behavior for protecting other members.

Interesting story about the Boa and how they attacked it when protecting one of their band.

But I like how you've shot through the tangled limbs and branches that frame this Coatimundis so nicely. He does look 'frozen' to the tree he's clinging to.

A perfect shot for the great outdoors. Good luck with the competition. I've still got to find a shot I want to enter if I don't run out of time.

Thank you for your great review. Of curse you never heard of Coatimundis. They aren't widely known except the areas were they live. I liked the tangled limps too. I've have a closer up but that doesn't show the Outdoors as this. I was lucky since the jungle in this area wasn't fully recovered from the hurricans so I had a relatively good setting. Hope you were able to enter the contest. Much luck.

Thanks! Yeah. Think I beat the deadline by several hours. That doesn't always happen. I've missed about three already because I just wasn't watching the deadlines.

I missed more because I was ill or didn't read the rules completely.

And I just now got the Christmas Tree Ornament posted. Weird! The review mode doesn't work now.

Thank you for your kind review and your suggestion. I appreciate your input but I won't change the picture this time. I don't know if I really dislike the blurry branches they are giving the fahr away look. Objects in front of the camera lens will always blow if the object in focus is farther away. That is thick jungle and underbrushes there. No way to get closer to the animal without using a machete. There is no traditional way to get red of the brunches other then cropping what I refuse to do since it would damage the 'outdoor and wilderness' effect for what was ask in the contest. I have close up of these animals since they aren't very affraid of humans but that wouldn't be an animal in action and outdoor shot.

i like Coatimundi, saw lots of them while traveling through Mexico.they are cute in a sense. On this photo, where you captured one of them, i would do few tiny changes. I would have cropped all those bushes, especially the one to the right as its out of focus, then i would perhaps apply filter or more saturation as you would like this little fella to be more visible. I know they are difficult to capture as i have them mainly from behind or sideways :-))
otherwise well done.

Thank you for your friendly and throuought review. I really appreciate your input but I won't change the picture this time for following reasons: I have exact the shot you suggest. An more zoomed in, not a cropping but I decided against it, It takes the wilderness and outdoor effect away for what was ask in the contest. Actually the coatimundis aren't very difficult to capture since they aren't very affraid of humans even got half domesticated if feet. In some of the ruins they are known for begging at the tourist. I have some close ups of them but that wouldn't go with the contest rules. The applying of Mixed Media as filters are was prohibited since it is a Traditional Photography contest.
