This is a beautiful flower. The lighting you have taken it in really shows off the great coral color and the pretty shapes of the petals. Good composition, I like the spiky cactus being softened so that it does not compete with its bloom.

Thank you for your nice review. The light that day was actually a problem. There wasn't much of it. It was a foggy and rainy morning. I experimented with several settings and took many shots. I liked how this one came out.

Here is how I see it. The color is divine, a very moving beauty! Focus is very good. Compositional value is good. Background subject and aspects are very good. All in all a very nice photo, particularly color. Wonderful photo!

Exotic flowers, like the one you've captured, bloom so infrequently. Glad you were there when bloomed.
Your technique on this is very subtle, with a soft expose on the flower and an even softer DOF. The subject warrants that touch as the salmon and raspberry colors really pop nicely.

I don't know if this is desert fauna. I don't know the origin of the cactus. I'm still unable to identify the species. I know it is not native to our area [Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico] but it does well here. This one grows on a beach property.

You've got me there. You didn't say where the plant came from. I just assumed from one of the US desert areas. Anyway, nice composition. It was a pleasure to review.

But you may be still right. It just may be an import to our area what got well adapted.

I would have liked to seen a color in the upper right corner as opposed to the grey.

Thanks Annie, I appreciate your kind and generous review and your suggestion greatly. The gray in the corner is the sky. It was a very rainy day. I didn't changed color since I wanted to stay with photography and reality. I didn't want to use Mixed Media in this version. I may will do an digital painting with it.

Is that flower jumping out at me? Excellent depth. The focus draws you to the subject right away. The bright colors in the flower is pushed to the front by the darker unfocused background. Excellent job. Thank you.

This is a very colorful picture of a cactus flower. The colors are striking and harmonious, giving the photo strong initial impact. The background blends in very nicely in color and sets off the cactus. The lighting is great, and there is good s tory telling ability.
