You have really done a great job on this cat's eyes, Cleo, they look wonderful, so much depth and expression in them. Very nice use of color. I like your use of the pastels.

    Thank you so much.
Amazing how bad things happen sometimes lead to new experiences. I never would have tought of using Oil Pastels on slippy construction paper without. Seams I have to be thankful too the thief. I'm not I still like aquarel paper better.
The scan turned a little bit more red than the original.

very expressive artistic value here with this lovely moody looking cat, great earthy color tones and i like the-detail in his nose and whiskers, good sparkle in the eyes that gives this depth and a soul, nice close feel and lots of character that is well framed and warm to view, thanks for sharing your talent.

Great notes. Sounds like you had quite an experience on your walk. This is a very good job of memory of this beautiful Ocelot. Your attention to details on strokes, details and shading is well done. Love the color of it's fur and eyes. Beautifully done. Eleanor

Thank you so much Eleanor. I have to admit that I had a couple photos as reference but non close up as this.

Strong color and look. This comes from an obviously strong understanding of the materials your working with but also from not fearing the material. I love the iridescence of the eyes and the framing that makes this little guy look like he's peering through the leaves of a jungle bush. Wonderful!

Thank you so much. I had to learn to work with rather unusual material for me since somebody stole my drawing and aquarelle paper.

Your painting of the ocelot is striking. The eyes hold one's attention - they are very expressive. I like the detail in the face and fur. The colors are subtle and harmonious. The picture is well composed.

I love the colors your used - this is a very beautiful cat - I think his nose is a little too broad for his face though - great pic - good luck in the contest. Annamarie

Thank you Annamarie for reviewing and especially for your input. The face seams right with my memory. I'm sure there was still some baby face in his feature but I could be wrong. I used a couple of photos as reference but non of them close up. I don't see Ocelots very often. And never this close as on this occasion [I'm not sure I want to] I have to do more research.
    Thanks again :)

Cleo this is truly an experimental artwork from memory and I like your use of colour even though the Ocelot is not exactly that colour. I look at it as a representation of this beautiful little cat.Well done and thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. You are absolute right with the colors. I don't know why but they are more reddish in the scan as in the original. I couldn't change it with the computer since this would be digital enhancement. I didn't write it in the comments because I know from experience if I do so a lot of reviews will tell me the cat is to much red.

Very nice Cleo! The big wide wrath of color to bring out the details of the face are wonderful. You caught the eyes just right as well. Interesting color choice.

Thank you so much for your kind review. The 'interesting' color choice is not really what I had in mine but is caused by the scanner. I don't know why but somehow is more red in the scan than in the original but I couldn't repair it with the program. It would be against the rules of the contest.

Appears as you are making rather good headway in this image - nice colors and good detail in this closeup capture of the Ocelot. Thanks for sharing and lets see more as you progress with the pastels.

Thank you so much but it isn't so much the Oil pastels what is new for me but the paper I have to work with until I'm able to replace what somebody stole. Not an easy task in the deep south of Mexico.
