I have never seen sea's like this & I live near a coast! Your shot is both dramatic and interesting on many levels. You have foam in the centre but an element of spray on the RHS. Colours in the sea are great, but the sky looks a bit odd, so I feel the exposure was not spot on in this picture or you did not use any approriate filters. Nevertheless a very fine effort!

Thank you for your generous review. Crosswinds and the reef right under the surface are causing this turmoil. The sky doesn't look odd to me but natural. A sky as this isn't unusual her in the tropics with a storm moving in. I like to stay with natural looks better than to exchange them for unreal beauty.

Nice capture...the lighting is very good and the sharpness where needed is good too. I feel it would be much more interesting if you could have moved the camera over to the right just a bit to capture what was going on over there and still get that great curing of the wave on the left. however, I do like this it is interesting.

Thank you. I have to admit that I cropped the right of in purpose since I found the out sticking top of the riff to distracting. This is another theme, another picture.

You have clearly shown us the tremendous power in the waves by capturing the wave action along with the frothy foam shown here. Good contrast. We can see the sun shining on the crests of the foreground waves. There is a lot of energy in this image.

This is superb! The tops of the waves look like whipped cream! Marvelous shot. Great entry for the contest. I wish you the best.

Is it sea? The form appears so strange! It is so volumetric ? like soap foam. I like dynamicity in the movement. For this reason, this is very good candidate for the contest. Good luck!

    Thank you very much,
Yes it is the sea. Cross winds, a strong current, the incoming tide and the coral reef right under the surface creating this turmoil. Especially with cross wind as here the waves could catch the reef with 8 feet and strike without having a storm. The foam is mainly created by waves crashing at each other and the reef underneath the surface.

This is cool, especially the little three little swirl right about center. They are like little curls. Good DOF. Good Luck once again on the contest.

Thank you so much. I like these swirls too. I almost titled the photo 'the merking's hear'.

Wow Cleo, I'd say you nailed it here! Turmoil is such a great title for this one. The Caribbean Sea certainly can be rough like this! I love the early mornings to get a shot like this! So much detail throughout the water it's unbelievable. The one I've circled is my favorite. This is an excellent contest entry! Good luck.

Thank you so much, Lynseey. These 'curls' are also my favorites. I was between two titles. I almost called it 'the merking's hear'.

The shapes of the foam in the wave make this a very unique ocean shot. You've captured the dark sky and sun hitting the waves at the same time very well. Nice capture, perfect lighting!
