I didn't like this at first, but after reading your story I understand. Yes, it is very poignant and life affirming. The music is not alive so it frames the figures, for always. Now I like it. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you Margo, especially for really looking at it and reading up to understand. It's not that easy if you live not in the area but when you know the meaning the positive attitude toward dead seams natural.

Very funny and creative image.
It is like a Halloween party in a mental institution. But obviously they are having fun. The girl is dressed like Marilyn Monroe, and the guy - wow..
Good luck in the contest!

thank you Steffi. It's the unique mix of ancient prehispanic and catholic believing that no death soul likes to be toughed sadly of and death itself is a joyous occasion and the souls like to join us [unseen] at the fiestas of the Day of the Death, living of the smell of our food and drink. It's actually an Karaoke singer and a DJ.

You have quite a startling image here and one that make you stop and look...I am not too sure that the frame you put around it does anything for it tho'...Rob

Thank you Rob. The frame is part of the story since the scene shows a singer and a DJ. I chose the frame since I cant put audio on the picture. I believe it also intensified the colors of the calacas.

This is a well shot photo Cleo and your mixed media very effective and well done. I completely enjoyed your notes. November 1st for the Catholics is a Holy Day of Obligation and called All Souls Day. Enjoyed both the photo and the notes. Shirley

That is a striking picture. Thank you for the information describing the calacas. That makes the picture much more meaningful to me than it would otherwise have been. You have done a lovely job with the composition and the framing.

What fun. I love anything that has these figures involved. Very cool. I think the cross ladder would be symbolic of climbing to heaven. Great use of props. Nice look for a card with the addition of the effects you've added. Enjoyed viewing this.

Thank you very much for your complimentary review. You are probably right. I was told the cross ladder is a byzantine symbol but I doubt that a illiterate Mayan artist in the Spanish influenced catholic Mexico know about this. But truth he could have seen a picture.

Good work here with great colors, details, effects, creativity, and presentation, too. Good story ability, clarity, and impact. Love the background and the frame you chose...nice work.

I'm guessing the rope ladder leads to Heaven. This is Wonderful! It has everything..high impact, tons of interest (I love your notes on this!) wonderful musicality and lots of humour as well. The spirit is lovely, and the shot has lots of personality too. This is a terrific entry to the contest.

Thank you so much. You are probably right with the rope ladder but one can never be completely sure in the mix of ancient prehispanic and catholic believing.
