A beautiful piece of work. The colours seem to glow and the pinks and purples complement each other perfectly. Both the flowers and the background.are skilfully managed. Visually striking, well done.

Very beautiful piece. I love the wonderful light that comes from within this painting. Your flowers are wonderfully painted. Good positioning within the composition and the leaves at the bottom add great contrast. Well done. Good luck with the contest.

The more I see the digital work the more I am inspired. I am at heart a traditional artist but I am willing to try new avenues of expression for sure, works like your truly add the inspiration to start.
Amazing depth, color, contrast, detail and quite spectacular. Thank you for posting.

I know it's a good one when it knocks my eyes out from the front page as a thumbnail.

Format is attractive: I love the square format because it has more composing possibilities. Come from my medium format camera days which made 6x6 cm square negatives.

The colors are attractive: I think the muted reds/pinks/highlights compliment the green fernish leaves. The small areas of yellow keeps my eyes from wondering off the page.

Small interesting bugs: I like the placement of the cricket the best. I can't think of a better place.

This looks like something that was well thought out and you spent a significant amount of time doing it. (Even if you didn't)

Attractie Value: This is a less subjective way to grade but if I saw this hanging in a gallery, I wouldn't take a glance at it and go on to the next piece.

How do I know it's a 6 (in my opinion?) Because I know that I would invest the money to mat and frame it and place it on the wall.

It's very interesting how you bring attention to the small subjects on your painting with a heading and your story.
It's lovely way to make some subjects hidden and create atmosphere around the topic.
But even the largest item on your painting emanates that feeling of life all around you.
The flowers look alive and is if they wait for the little insects to come and join in a song.

Beautiful and very creative presentation, thank you for sharing.

After that last review with the three stars, yours is a dream, Amber, and I thank you very much. It really boosted my spirits. If he was correct in his assessment, how can so many other reviewers be wrong. Strange! Again, I thank you, and bless you for your beautiful comments. :)

You are very welcome, I just speak out of what I see and what impresses me. Your art is always very good and speaks for itself. Though, it's a blind contest entry, I recognize your work.
I've seen Darkling's art and it's not bad, I'm surprised he rated this design of yours so low.
I've seen his comment and don't agree with his observations. It looks as if he is viewing it from a photographic point of view, but yours is art, not a photography.
Well, some don't see what could be seen and appreciated.
    No worries, don't get discouraged.

I do not find this piece rather pleasing. It looks too busy, too focused in all areas trying to make it pop and not having a center of attention.
It's very pixellated in some areas, such as the flowers center and the background.
Perhaps blurring the background would help keep the focus on the flowers.
There's edges around the flowers that gives them a very faint white outline.
None of the elements seem to blend together well either. The flowers and the leaves seem to just be layers on top of each other and don't seem to mesh well.
Hope this doesn't come off too harshly, with some more work to fix it up this would be a great digital artwork.

Sorry you went to such an extreme with your review, Darkling, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on all points, and consider this more of an attack than a review. Thank you for your time.

nice harmony in your color palette. Beautiful flow in your composition. Love the addition of your bugs. Yhis evokes great memories of growing up in the country listening to the night sounds. Good luck in the competition.
