Hi,
I like the title but to me it says nothing. A little story would lead the viewer.
Good sharpness maybe needs a little more light, Good centre of interest and impact.
Thanks for sharing and lets have a story to it.

p.s. to my previous reply. Sorry for the inconvenience of a untold story. It was a blind contest. Any more and I would have my identity. Even the sentence I used to write about adding comments later seems now connected to my person. I was badly criticised for writing either this sentence, technical data or comments. I will add comments usually after the voting both close. Do You have a better idea for me?

Nice saturated blue and the bees do seem to be busy.
The image in general is too dark overall, it is difficult to see any detail on the bee. Not sure what the bees are doing and the plant does not offer much visual interest. The dark blue sky occupies too much of the image and it almost splits the image in half. Cropping in on the right hand bee and brighting up the exposure would make the image more interesting and vibrant.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.

Really, I tought it is to bright. But my eyes are getting worse and too light sensitive so you are probably right. I'm mostly blamed for having to soft colors and generally being to soft in my images. Thank you very much for your through review. I admire your honesty. We don't get that much anymore.
the bees are trying to collect pollen but aren't much lucky since the plant is not in full bloom. I don't agree on that the plant isn't of visual interest but I know the plant and is my personal view it anyway.

At times, less is more. I would like to show one of the bees larger and brighter to see more detail. The pollen structures are not in sharp focus and they have little color. If they were presented sharper with detail, their structure could make a great background. Realize that there may be a dirth of pollen in this one but always like to show a bee with grains of pollen on his body. Macros are, in my opinion, one of the most difficult forms of photography. Just getting a sharp image is a challenge with the subject movement, almost zero depth of focus, lighting problems and managing to get one of those pesty things to hold still long enough. I have some semi decent macros but I must shoot 100 for every possible keepable I get. Good luck and happy shooting.

Thank you much for your suggestion. Now were the contest is over I gues I can go more into detail. That photo actually is more less a snapshot [don't tel] but never less I tought it works. I couldn't go any closer. I used all the zoom I had on this camera. The Bees were in a Fan Palm high above me. That also caused that I couldn't see any detail either in nature or at the LCR. I had set focus an triple point [multi point] and hold the camera were I tought the focus is. [I'm not able to use the view finder for some time do to some lifelong eye problems. I'm used on focusing with my feel more than my eyes but I see the outcome only on my computer. I'm not able to tell if the color/sharpness settings on my laptop are optimal. The are may not. I still find the original picture not being dark on my screen. [P.S. there are no pollen on the buds. he flowers haven't opened jet but the bees already smell it. It is drought and food is very rear.

I have found that a number of the people that I have been talking with on FAR ahve some physical disabilities of some sort that make it difficult for them to take photographs with ease. I consider my self to be very fortunate, being about 7 years older than you, to not have any physical problems other than my back starting to bother me when I have been up too many hours. I do not know how you are able to cope with using the lcd screen - I know when I have to use it, the results seem to be rather hit and miss. My hat is off to you and all the others that have a phsical difficulty and continue to preserve - I hope that if (guess I should say when) will also have the perseverence to do the same. Thank you, It's not to hard for me to cope since I'm born with b ad eyes. My tunnel vision is a blessing more than a handicap. I see as a camera does just not that sharp. It dosn't bother much since I don't know how it is to see well. The digital age is also a blessing since the bad photos just get deleted. I'm sure You'll do the same and continue. You are an artist. That breed just can't quit their work as the 9 to 5-job people.

Your subjects stand out well against the deep blue of the sky. The reflection of the light bouncing off the wings is good too but I would have preferred to see the bees brightened up just a tad.

Like the colours throughout from the dark blue to the pale light colours at the fore.

Thank you. I couldn't get it closer. It's to high up in the tree. These Bees a wild bees and smaller than domestic honey bees, about 2/8 of a inch. I'm unsure about close up, macro and super macro. Actually the therm close up was unknown for me until I entered the site. The definitions aren't the same everywhere. What you suggest would be a super macro to me, but I may be wrong.

I don't think that 'closeup' is a term in photography, it's just when objects close by to view, but not necessary a macro shot, I've never heard the term 'super macro' myself.
'Macro' setting should be on most of cameras though, and they are special settings, where you can bring the subject of interest to the full detailed view with narrow focus, showing every hair on a bee or texture on other subject, and the background becomes very blurred to make the subject stand out. I can't shoot a good macro myself due to lack of experience, but you could look up debi-d and see her photo 'Bee nice' for example, which is a typical macro, or just type 'macro' in search of this site and you'll see some macro shots.

I guess I can write more freely now were the voting is over. Forgive a German, who never learned English at school, getting confused with the proper English therms of photography. I have read all these therms on this site and others, truth they are used differently. Just as what is covered on FAR a mixed media photography is listed as digital art on other sites. It's not always easy to find out what are the proper therms to be used on a special site and use them according to the costumes of the site. The therm super macro for example is used in one of my camera manuals but I think I have read it somewhere else as well. It seemed I just understand the call of the contest wrong. Of curse Bee nice is an exellent macro [what I was thinking of as super macro] I've seen lots of these Macros on this site and else were as I have seen these close up-macros as my post. Confusion again. I am familiar with the technique used in the true[?] macros and have used it myself as in my post Heart of a Rose, truth there is no background in the Rose post as in Bee nice. But I've experimented with those DOF settings on other occasion. I'm not always happy with the outcome especially if it is getting verry blurred and many colors are involved. I know it's the new trend. Don't understand that wrong, there are super pictures in that style as is the winning Bee nice.

Wow your lighting is fantastic. I also like the beautiful contrasting colours. Great focus on the bee, for this comp I would have cropped it to bring the bee a bit closer. Very good story telling and center of interest. Good luck!
