Nice composition. I like the contrast of the smoothness of her skin next to the roughness of the post. The natural light is great and her expression speaks volumes.

The wistful look can't be bought! I think the shadow of her hair on her face adds a really nice touch..this is an heirloom piece! Donkeyoatey

What a pitiful face....tell her I'll take her where she wants to go :)

Great work on this portrait...the lighting and framing are excellent and the colors are harmonious.

Thanks for sharing it! Your grand-daughter is lovely!

It really does look like she is yearning to go also. Lighting is very good. Focus is very good. Framing is well done. She makes a nice little model.

It is a great portrait of a special kind what I would call 'situation portrait'. A portrait what tells more the story the person is living right now than about the person. This story here is evident. Seeing this photo I know the kid is upset and sad about something what happen to her or something she longs to do but can not. [even without reading your comments]. The eyes tell this story longing looking into far away. Hugging the tree because there isn't anything else to hug or hold on. The mouth tight closed just holding back the tears. This story is excellently told in a photo of technical perfection.

Why didn't she get to go too? She is beautiful. The sun on her face doesn't take a bit away from her sadness. She does have a look like she wants to go too. You caught her sadness perfectly. The background makes the girl and tree pop. Nice capture.

This is a wonderful capture- reminds me of something out of 'Little House on the Prairie' and Laura Ingles-she could make me cry quicker than anyone I know-This little ones feelings are awfully hurt over something that is for sure- the lighting is good -not so much shadow in the eyes that they are lost, that is where the story lies-wonderful composition, tack sharp image with excellent detail and good blur in the background- great job-

She's a darn good little cheeser if that is the case-be careful you don't lose her to hollyweird-she pulled your direction off perfectly!! you must usxe her for all your portrait work(0:

This is an excellent portrait. The expression on her face certainly has a story, and while it's not entirely clear to the viewers what it is, your title hints at it. Composition is just excellent.. her pose is very soft and I like the added expression of her hugging a tree.. symbolic for the emotions she appears to be feeling. Focus is very good, lighting is on the softer side but direct enough to draw attention to her face, depth is great and colors are strong but not too much so. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing.
