This is a lovely bird photography. You have timed it well. The bird with its prey has been beautifully captured on camera. The sharpness is impressive. The light and composition are also fine .

You guys amaze with your very wonderful photos of these gentle creatures. This is so focused and clear. The background provides really good contrast for the subject. I really like it.

My comments are merely suggestions, use them if you like them, ignore them if you do not. :)

Its OK to break "Technical" rules, in my reviews, when breaking them is creative or expresses your feelings.

My favorite subjects are warm, they attract my eye, as I know warm colors create good feelings... There is a good variation of values, which enhances artistic elements.

Impact

This has a lot of impact in the subject, variation from blacks to bright areas in the eyes, good sharpening.
It has specific points of interest that bring me back to see them. The shadows are, just right for my taste.

Lighting

Appropriate for the image, natural appearing, with open shadows, leading us down the path to view important areas... with a good values.

Composition

We want to choose a powerful interest point, put it into the position with most impact.

Creativity:

Comparing your image with a zone scale, see a good range of zones on my calibrated monitor. Keeping a gray scale and color scales on the monitor, compared them with yours.

Why is it important to have a calibrated monitor?
It is the range of blacks, grays, and whites, that control colors, create impact or drama. A full contrast scale, gives maximum usable contrast for your work of art. Usually this means a lot of impact in the Image.

It has interesting patterns in light and shadows, with good detail in the mid-tones, and highlights...

When we look for the quality in the work of masters or mentors, and aim to duplicate that quality, we can achieve it, with practice.

The more we look at the work of others closely to see what we like, the more info we store in our brain. Then, the brain uses this information, all combined to create our own style of work.

My desire as a reviewer, is to help you produce something better, each time. Sometimes that is difficult, with those who have a lot of experience.

You have done well with this image, will enjoy seeing more of your work.

COMMENTS:

Exceptionally good shot, with the seed in her mouth.
