Great photographic set up. Great pumpkin with straw hair.
There is some thing just simple but interesting about it. Perfect still life.

My comments are suggestions, use them if you like them, ignore them if you do not. :)

Its OK to break "Technical" rules, in my opinion, when breaking them is creative or expresses your feelings and gets the job done.

You hooked me. Anything with red, orange, yellow or just all warm colors, can do that and anything "above" average.

Enjoyed seeing your work.

Impact
Good example.... of a still life, would not exactly describe it as abstract.

This has a lot of impact, with the variation from blacks to bright points.
It has specific points of interest that bring me back to see them. Just right for my personal taste.

Lighting

Appropriate for the image, natural appearing, with open shadows, leading us down the path to view important areas... with a good values.

Composition

You choose a powerful interest point. Put it into a position with maximum impact.

Creativity:

Comparing your image with my zone scale, that I keep on my desktop, see a good range of zones on my calibrated monitor. Also have a color chart, including values and compared them with your image to find it has a full range of values.

Why is it important to have a calibrated monitor?
It is the range of blacks, grays, and whites or values, which control colors. That creates impact or drama and makes a winner. Starting this way, regardless of the subject it usually this means a lot of punch in the Image.

Images with warm colors are my favorite subjects. They catch my eye, as they create good feelings...

The images has a lot of elements, that contribute to the artistic elements. There are interesting patterns in light or shadows, and good details in the mid-tones, or highlights...

When we look at the work of the masters or mentors, we can discover how to develop our own creativity and achieve it, with practice.

The more we look at the best Photographs or Paintings and Sculpture the more we can determine what we like. And as we store that information in our brain. The more it uses all this information, combined to create our own style or artistic ability.

Hopefully my reviews, can help motivate you, to do the best you can today. Next week or month, and next year, you may be surprised to look back and see the progress you made this year. Personally, even though someone wanted to buy it, never sold my first painting. For I can always look back, and see the changes in my ability over the years... Think about some who say, "I cant do as well as so and so." Today know that is WHY they do not. For they are saying, to their brain. "I can, NOT do as well." Giving their brain permission "not" to develop their own creative ability. Our brain like a computer, does what we tell it, repeatedly.

If you know someone who says such things, _stop_ them. Right in the middle of the sentence. You will do them a big favor.

I think the colors make this shot. The theme of autumn colors against the tinted background really add to its effectiveness. The framing is good and the focus is clear and concise. Very nice photo.

Simple but Evil :[ (that's a vampire smiley)

Good orange and green composition though I think a plant on the front right would have made this look much stronger.

Speaking of plants... we have those all over the place here. I wouldn't think they'd prosper in Norway??
