This is a very emotional image. The sad situation shows in the childs face. She has no smile, no laughter, no play time, childhood fun...only hunger and a life of hard work for the simplest things. It's a sad life. The image reflects that sadness. Excellent work in that ability to give emotion to an image. Linda

You have made a wonderful portrait of a beautiful little girl. The photo lets us know a little something about the subject because even without your notes I would have guessed at her story. The photo is very expressive, light, composition, dof are all great.

What a beautiful face and what an expression on the child's face. Already the burden of survival writ large on her face. A fine study. Very touching story. Well done.

thanks for sharing and providing the background story to this. I think it enables the viewer to confirm their first thought of sadness i see from this little girl. Kids are suppose to have fun at 5 not take care of younger siblings. Seems it is a hard life even at that age.

Thank you for your kind review. Yes it is a hard life. Her story is not unique. There are tausends alike all through Central and South America and through the world.

informative artist notes go to somewhat explain such a serious young girl. in some parts of the world you become an adult at 5 because of a forced situation but the face retains the innocence of a young child. the framing is nicely done, so most of the background is cropped out.
