Initial Impact: As a viewer I also very glad you were ready. That is a once in a lift time shot. Lighting: is good. Heron jumping presentation. Color harmony: none, converted to B&W. Center of interest: the jumping heron. Cropping: if this from a larger photo, you might like to level the photo. It is titled to the right. Focus: good. Action: Nothing. Story telling is in the Title and Artist's notes.
Comments: Your selection of category could have also been journalism. Try to sell to the local newspaper.

I have been very interested in your comment about going to the newspaper, with this one and others. I have no idea who to contact, thanks for the idea.

Usually the editor would be a good place to start. Depending where you are there are travel sections and will give web site to work with for that newspaper. Make sure you copyright mark you work.

I would suggest straighten the photo up. If you look at the shore line in the back, you will see how sloped it is. It maybe be correct but does not look correct to me. Just a suggestion. Good Luck Don.

I did what you suggested and I agree. It was something I did not even notice. I was so much into the subject that I just did not see it. I fixed it, would you take a look at it and see what you think.

Thanks again for such a nice review and high score. The ice broke and he actually fell in. This was one of many of him getting out of the water. He really performed for me that day.
