What an artistic composition! I like it very much....for such a simple subject there is much to be reviewed.

I will begin with your vertical frame and the vacant space you left at the the top... Plus the shadow that you have at the bottom. I Love that space and my tendency is to add more at the sides...only because I always consider a frame and mat and would like the subject a bit further from the mat on the sides.

Your colors are perfectly controlled in saturation...and that is an accomplishment while still showing the icy apple...I love that!

This would be a chosen composition to be hung in a gallery. Excellent!

The piece is stunning. The concept is absolutely terrific and I just crave to know more of how you think and see the world! I'm drawn in instantly. The contrast and balance are stunning!!! It says to me so many wonderfully inspirational things...like "Think outside of the square apple!!!" I love it! BRAVO - well worth all the accolades you have achieved!

Looks so simple but so very dramatic. I am a big fan of the black back ground for still life photo's. The touch of gray at the bottom of the photo is brilliant. The light contrasting off the green is in a very nice proportion and adds just the right amount of zing. The apple seems to float in your work.Very well done...T
PS am sad am out of more stars

Top score for the concept here :) But I'm not sure if I'd eat a square-shaped apple... It's so unnatural (just like the legendary square-shaped watermelon) LOL

The layout is very nice and simple, very to the point.
The blending of the apple and the background seems a bit blur. I think stronger 3D look might work better (if it's possible and not too hard to alter it, maybe you can give it a try and see if you'd like it better).

Cool presentation :)

I did not know what you meant by legendary square shaped watermelon, so I made a research on the net and, then, what a surprise !! There really are square shaped watermelon in Japan and maybe somewhere else too !!! Sometimes it is true that reality is stranger than fiction LOL
Thank you so much for the great and very detailled review !! I am glad you liked this picture :) About the 3D look, I am not quite sure it would be possible to change the blending of the apple on this picture without altering it. It may be possible to strenghten the 3D look by other means though. Whatever I will check it out when I will have some time. Anyway, I will keep your comments in mind for when I will do a similar project !
    Thanks again !!

This is a very well thought out composition. Very detail and creative. Love the flow of the shadow from gray to black. The green apple is fantastic. Very clear crisp and ready to be bitten into. LOL
Exposure is great.
All time best. Congrats. Lou

A square apple ice! A great idea!
The composition and lighting are perfect.
I must admit - I have no idea how you do this, but the end result is definitely worth it.
If it was mine - perhaps the only change I would make would be to lose a little of the top of the photo, as there seems to be a lot of empty space above the apple.
Great work though - thanks for sharing! :o)

Thank you for your great review ! I am glad you liked this picture. About the background, I am very perplexed. It is difficult to define the perfect height. I thought I did it, but I am not quite sure anymore. But, still, it would be difficult to fix exactly where I would cut, if I cut. I am still going to think about it. Thanks again for your comments.

I agree... And it's impossible to please all of the people, all of the time!!
I probably would only take a little of the top, so still leaving more space above the apple than below (just not quite as much)
Having said that - If you're happy with it the way it is, Leave it like that - After all.... It's your creation!! :o)

Another unique presentation. Black is a good background choice for this. Lighting is good. Great story-telling ability and creativity abounds. Good close-up with crisp details. thanks for sharing your talents

It really does look like an ice cube!
Very clever the way you've done this.
Simple idea and very effective.
Only thing I would change would be to crop off some of the top.

No worries...all I did was draw a line across the top midway through the black BUT seeing it as a thumbnail here ignore my comment. It looks fine!

Thank you for the follow up, I was more and more doubting about my initial choice :)

Rather a different apple however, nice and bright. I like this and really think you have a super background for this apple. Nice capture here.
