this is a great photo..the color and detail is wonderful..i got the chills when i read your notes about how you had a fun day with this guy..a quote comes to mind. "The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking." ~ Brooks Atkinson. it really is the journey..the end result of the photo is just an added bonus :) good job..thanks for sharing.

This is a really nice shot.
Color, focus and lighting are very good. There is very nice detail in the wings and I like the stance you caught him in. The Heron is nicely cropped and placed.Very nice presentation. Thanks for sharing

another bird on the ice. Don't they have better things to do or places to go. Nice sharp [perhaps over sharpened a bit] shot, well composed and exposed. Nice separation from background

Love this one - he almost looks as if he would be walking on tiptoes if he could, it is so cold! Colouring spot on, lighting excellent especially around his face. Great composition.
