What an adorable looking baby and a cute pose! Your poster edge effect is great but I wonder how your real one looks? It's probably as precious as this one. Outstanding!

Thank you so very much! The focus was a little soft, so that is why I started playing with it. This looked really good to me, and that is why I posted it.

You did good Willie
I haven't started experimenting either but can't wait to begin. So far I have only loaded PSE
This is a great beginning
Only suggestion woud be for you to

I like poster edges too Willie. I do find it darkens the image a bit so tend to lighten it and do everything else before applying the poster edge effect. Then just play with the sliders until you get the effect you like.
You've done a pretty good job here. Cute baby.

Initial Impact: I like limited use of posterizing. It is like the sharpening use, it can be over done very easily and that is I feel has happened here. Lighting: is good. Baby posterized presentation. Color harmony: good. Center of interest: the baby face. Cropping: is good.
Focus: good. Action require: None. Story telling is in the Title and Artist's notes.
Comments: good composition.

Another comment. How you rendered this will be like maybe a lot of people or not. You must go with what you like and feel good about. Experimenting is a good thing to go by. Learning for right now is what is important.

I am going to go to a photography club tonight! I hope to learn a lot there. I am going to mention FAR and how much people like you have helped me see things. I do not always agree with you but there has been some very helpful things you have said too! Like this baby shot, some like it some don't. I am in the middle, that is why I posted it, just to see what folks thought. I got as high as a 6 and as low as a 4. I am still in the middle. I will continue to play with the features in ps, but I don't plan to post anything like this again. I am in to nature and portraits mainly. Thanks again for your review and comments!

Having your work critiqued can be a big pain. You baby picture is one of those that will stretch your patience. I had one a few weeks ago and was told about everything under the sun what I should do to make it better. Very few matched recommendations given. If I had done everything they said to do, there would not have been a picture left to work with. Another picture everyone was just wild about it except two people and they were ones who I usually relied upon for good input. It is very easy to get very frustrated doing this. People keep telling me not to take it personal, but how can you not when you put yourself into the photo, trying to make it the very best you can. Make sure you go to the photo club a few times before making up your mind. In three months I have gone once. Most of the time I remember to late to go or have been not feeling well. Enjoy working with you willie. I will look forward to hearing from you how the club meeting went.

I went to the meeting. There was about 25 people that came. I was really impressed. I really injoyed myself. They meet every 4th monday at 7:00 pm. They have a contest going from month to month. The contest going on this month is "something wild in nature" I knew I wanted to join for $25.00 per year. Later on if I don't like it I won't be out much.

Is the group with PSA. If it is they have free 6 month photo course on line and you get a magazine once a month which is usually very good. There is lots to learn there. Good luck.

What is PSA? If they are nothing was mentioned! It sounds like a good thing to do. The free lessons sounds good.

I think I would have really loved this photograph in it's original form. I personally don't care for the blotchy look on the baby's face. That particular edit even makes the blanket look grubby. However, this is only my opinion. I'd love to see the real thing, so maybe at a later date you could post it. thanks,. Jill

Poster edges is one of my new discoveries and seems very forgiving when the photographer hasn't quite focused well on a capture! I have the same difficulty as you when using this filter on grandchildren. The highlight areas seem too pronounced. I've played with adjusting saturation and then one reviewer suggested using the unmask filter. That made a huge difference. In this case, the model is so darling that I can't really subtract for editing experiments. The eyes are beautiful and she has such a sweet expression.

Thank you so much! Photoshop has so much you need a degree to use it. on the original shot the focus was just a little soft so I started playing with it. I have not heard of the unmask filter! More to learn.
