A solid piece of photography. The simplicity of the subject keeps the viewer focused to study the bloom.

The topic is interesting and the composition keeps you looking for all of the details of the photo. Otherwise most viewers would miss the secondary point of interest..the bird.

Thanks for posting this one.

Thank you very much for your throughout review. Where do you see a bird? If yo mean the yellow fluff in the middle of the flower that isn't a bird. that is what looks like a flower inside the flower but is really a something resembling stamen and pistil. This Flower is unusual in every way. I will post a frontal view in time for better view of this area.

Wow! my eyes are going crazy. A I looked at it again an sure enough it is a bud with a floral petal in such a location that I thought it was a bird. The laugh is on me.

This is a real eye catcher with so much colour set against a pitch black surround. Perfect clarity.

What software do photographers usually use to edit photographs? I don't have any software to adjust my pics yet.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your review.
I don't think that there is a software what is usually used. Many use photoshop but that is not cheep and could be confusing for beginners. I personally dislike photoshop. You will find a lot of programs on line you could google just typing in 'photo'. I personally use Photo Explosion and Digital Image Suite most the time. I think Photo Explosion has a free basic program for beginners to download but I am not sure. [You may google it out]The Suite is from 2006 and may of the market by now. If you want to look into digital painting ArtRage would be a really good and program under $ 100,-. They have a tutorial on line what is very helpful for beginners. I hope that helps a little but keep in mine that that is just from my personal experience. You may ask around some more. ~Cleo

Wow! What a beauty she is! Nature indeed is miraculous. Just to have a blossom like this blossom away from us, or while we are asleep, and then to wither before we awake, indeed is a beautiful mystery. Great idea not using the camera flash as it would have created a harsh glare on it. There is enough light provided by the flashlight. Fine handling of light on your part. Good clarity, sharpness and fine color tones preserved. The side profile with just that bit of prickly branches presents it well. The tiny yellow bloom within (on top) crowns this queen well.

That is so great that you got to see this rare occurrence. Beautiful profile of the bloom. Nice lighting and colouring. Good focus and detail.I like the angle and composition you decided to choose here. Well done.

I am assuming the fuzzy looking thing on the stem is the bud; wow I have never seen a bud like that. What a neat plant!
