This looks like a surrealist painting. Behind the trees I can sort of make out the head and chest of someone laying down on his side in what are meant to be mountains or hills. The shadow that is the woman is well defined. I can see she's wearing a dress and her hair flowing in the breeze. And she does look as though she is feeling the water and it's a little cold. And I feel that a certain surrealist effect was achieved.

Not one of my favorites Diane,sorry to say.It just seems very flat and awfully repetitive.If it wre just the top half of the work,you would be okay and able to do something with it.But comparing the top work to this here it looks very pixelated and ???

thanks Nanay for the review. I worked on this one for quite some time and still it seemed off. I didn't like the colors, they seemed too dull even though I was going for an after a stormy evening look. I finaly just gave up and posted it. I don't see the pixelated efect however, maybe I'm missing somethng there too. I know I got the shading all off, and water is still something I am working on and just can't seem to get that effect. I've had good reviews on this one other than 2 yours one and other. his review was in dept and told me aboutt he shading being all off. that was the one thing I saw after he brought it to my attention. It does look flat too, apparently that was the other thing that kept buggin me. thanks Nancy for giving me a few insights into what is wrong with this. I think I stared at it too long and the obvious I missed.

your always more of a help than you realize Nancy. and I ppreciate all of it. I get criticised or commended for my work. which everyone does, but if I'm going to get criticised I don't havve a problem at all as long as I'm learning from it and yu never criticize . Yu are always very helpful and explain what it is that I need to do to make somehting better, sheihc is what my goal is. ther is still somuch I have to learn and every little bit helps. Especaily when its one that I can't see whats wrong but I know something isn't right. A second and tird opinon always hits it on the head. thank you again and always for your help, you have been fantastic

"Getting your feet Wet" is a very interesting piece. You captured everything you mention; the feeling of solitude on the water. The creation of this piece obviously took some work, and the talent that you have at combining the images to create this piece shows. The ripples in the water look a little planned, like a computer effect that was just shy of perfected. The clouds in the sky look like a close-up of a horizon and seem out of proportion in comparison to the mountains in front of them. And my final complaint; shadows aren't black. In nature shadows are the absence of light (and therefore the absence of a certain color). The issue with using black is that it makes the figure too stark in contrast to their surroundings. They just don't blend well.
Other than that I really enjoy the color scheme; it's soft and calming and perfect for this work. The reflections are very clean and true to real reflections. That really helps to make your water look calm.
You have a definite talent with these programs. Keep working at it; you are showing a LOT of promise. I look forward to seeing a few more of your pieces.

This has got to be the best revierw I hae had since i've ben on this sight. you have ben ery through and helpful with lettin me know what I did right and wrong. thank you so much for taking th e time to really review tis piece. I wasn't happy with his acn couldn't put my finger on why exactly it didn't look right. You just helped me to see that and it was very simple but something for whatever reason I didn't catch.

This is interesting and intriguing. If I didn't read the notes I think I may have missed the deer. My eyes start at the birds then go to the reflection in the water and then the girl. Interesting colors but it seems to work nicely. Thanks for sharing and the little story.
