Brilliant capture and the composition has been clearly well thought out. Love the splashing of the waves and the fact you captured them so well. The rainbow in the distance is also a huge bonus and makes a big impact on the photo.

Why exposure adjustments? For an image like this, determine the correct exposure values and manually enter them into the camera. One less problem to worry about when taking the image and the proper exposure does not change at different camera orientations. Also, why not a smaller f-number? Not familiar with the camera but you should be able to up the iso at least a couple of stops and close the lens down accordingly to get greater overall sharpness.

Image is dynamic and has some good colors. You froze a lot of the spray but a lot of the details are lost in the surf - would try some selective exposure reduction to see if you could pick up detail.

I have a hard time getting the horizon level on still images, on something like this it is almost impossible to do in other than post processing.

I do not believe in protective filters except in cases like this when you have flying salt water.

Thank you for your thought and in depth review. I appreciate your suggestions very much.
OK, The exposure adjustment was wrong. I adjusted the exposure wile I was working on battery what darkened the screen on my laptop apparently to much. Bad idea but our power was off. I'm going back to the original, it has a lot more detail in the surf.
Yes I am able to set the camera as you say but what when you don't know what adjustment you will need when you set the camera. I had set the camera at home a hour or so earlier with the metering on auto. As I wrote in my comments I had no chance later to set the camera accordingly to the weather. It still was raining plus the salt spray from the ocean. I had an instant camera protection [Zip Lock back] cover over the camera leaving just the front glass of the lense uncovered. It allows me to push the shutter but nothing else, I can't reach any of the manuals [hand or electronic]. I was working under storm conditions. I don't know; but think it was about 35 mph or more. i wasn't waring my watch but the sun didn't last long. In these condition I'm unable to see the focus so I play by guessing and hope it turns out.

Under those conditions the first thing to do is to insure the safty of the camera. I ahve never worked with camera protection thus am totally ignorant of the difficulties involved.

I mostly work under difficult conditions. I was out in hurricanes until alarm red. That's when i learned that my 90 pounds are unable to withstand more than 65/75 mph. I got blown over. My other camera would have been better adjustable but it is currently drying in a dehumidified room. this time I learned that I never should work on pictures with the battery. Normally we would start the generator but somebody had stolen the Gasoline again, what we didn't realised.

Love the intensity of the water, gives the photo such energy.
The contrast between the colours in the sky are amazing separated by the rainbow.
Good luck and well done.

A good picture with a nice story. The picture looks almost like a watercolour (excuse the pun), and the detail is terrific. The colours of the storm have been well captured and the suspended drops of water are great. Good DoF and focus and a nice straight horizon, a point so often overlooked, Well done and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your accomodating review. I have to admit that I hat to straighten the picture. I didn't have very good footing in that sand and water. All my pictures that day came out with a crooked horicont.

Thank you very much for your encouraging review. I had set the metering on auto since I did know that I would not be able to reset the camera ion that storm; but I didn't know in what I was going into when I left home.
