17th of May. That is the date when we got our own constitution, and the liberation from Denmark (1814). We went into a union with Sweden. It was not until 1907 that Norway was a sovereign state and we got our own King (importet from Denmark thou). Prince Carl of Denmark was asked if he wanted to be the King og Norway, he accepted and got the name Haakon the 7th. Todays little history lesson LOL.
