For some reason when I see this piece, I actually do think root canal. A painful, unavoidable obtrusion which conglobates, a frightening moment in time which is hard to forget, but still organic in its formation. Like an organic hellraiser. Orb icicles instead of nails.

Wow, great comments! Your not the only one who associated this with the root canal I had just gone through....and now reading your notes and looking at this image again, my tooth started to ache...LOL!....thanks so much for your taking the time to review this!

This picture creates a strong initial impact. It is very unique and interesting. The droplet suspended in mid air looks magical. The ripple effect is interesting. I have no problem with you using the color red. It just makes the picture all the more surreal.

Thank you, all it takes is a little experimentation, some reading, a little bit of thought, and a great many shots, and if you don't quite get it right, try, try again!

This is the sort of thing I do when its to cold or wet to get out.
I like what you have done here it has an volcanic feel about it. The blueish background suits the image perfectly. Mitch

Thank you Mitch! I can relate to you doing this on a lousy day, and in fact there is a lot of truth to that. I am from Vancouver, where mountains, ocean, islands are everywhere . . . always something to take pictures of. Now I am in Toronto, concrete jungle, no mountains, ocean, just big, big city with a million shopping malls. Oh well, at least I have creativity to work on! Thanks for your review.

I am not a photographer myself - but I can see the beauty in your mixed media photo anyway - so unusual - I found it very interesting to read your notes here - thanks for sharing.. Well done!

Great initial impact and great subject to photograph.
The image seems a little grainy (-.5). This could be fixed using a lower ISO (ISO=100/200). But I realize this shot may require a higher ISO. The focus looks good on the drop in the right side, but the center seems a tad out of focus to me (-.5). I like the colors and they work great with the title. Good composition and use of space.

5 - Initial rating
-.5 - Grainy
-.5 - Soft focus
---
4.0 - Final rating

Thank you for your good review and very helpful comments. I agree, I was so upset when I saw the grain in a lot of my shots, I be it on using a too fast shutter speed, wanting to get all the action...but you live and learn, and thank you, I must pay more attention to my iso settings....

Very creative and technical excellence. Quite unusual in using colored water etc. I like the vapors behind the water spout. Really fast lens to catch this phenomenon of a water droplet bouncing off the sea of water. Thanks for sharing.

Cool image

I like the way you have frozen this in time.

I know it is hard to get images like this which are well exposed and in focus...but you have done a great job in capturing this.

Nicely done

Thank you for understanding some of the more complex areas of this type of photography, but once you get the concept, it becomes invaluable! Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to review this one, and your great comments....although, I must explain that I didn't use any filters... instead, I coloured the water red, and used a red lighting gel just underneath the surface, to hide the cables from the aquarium pump I had put under the water!

Very pretty shot!H2O can take amazing forms when it's captured on camera. The red color you gave to the water makes your senses work, building up adrenaline. Many shapes and formations in the picture, good clarity.
