Here's another fine looking picture that you've presented us with, Willie!
These large and impressive birds were once quite rare up here but since a lot of the industrial contamination has been elimanated they're literally all over the place down in the swamps near the Hudson River!
Your interesting photographic capture of this one and it's freshly caught prey looks Great,my friend!

It's a nice shot you managed to get at 750 sec. I need er shoot lower that 1250sec I prefer 3200 or 2500 on all wildlife to get sharper focus especially when handheld.
Like the fish between the bill.
Another blast from your past Willie.
Hope to see some new work from you this year.
:)

Thank you so much! I like shooting faster but I cant take the iso higher than 400 because of the noise. It just depends on the light, sometimes I can shoot at 1200/sec

It's why learning Kelvin Scale is so important.
You need it for white balance as well as bright or low light no light conditions.
Full manual on every setting is what is needed so you never sacrifice speed for light.
A lens that has f/stop as low as f/4.5 or lower is needed. And understanding EV( exposure compensation) more on plus side for more light.
With an older Nikon camera I used 8000 Kelvin or 10000....with my new Camera the sensor is sensitive so I keep it at 5000 most days.

I like the way the fish stands out with good detail and color in this shot. It's interesting to see the stump that he was using as his surveying and eating spot.

Your patience and waiting were really rewarded with this shot. This capture is outstanding. The position half out of the water with the fish in its beak is very enthralling. The photos is perfect focused. The details of the bird, the sump with the plant inside and the fish have exquisite detail. The dept is excellent. The colors are brilliant and the photo is balanced and well framed.

Excellent shot showing a moment in the day of this magnificent Great Blue Heron as he returns to the tree stump with his catch clutched in his beak. I like the angle you used for this, showing the reflections and ripples in the water. Very good lighting and focus showing a nice sharp image. Great composition. Suzanne

Exceptional splayed wing span. Its reflection upon the water is tinged a lovely blue that coordinates quite well, with it. The upright log and grass beside the heron displays him to good advantage.
Cordially,
