Great composition and use of space. The image is well focused and shows good detail. The lighting and colors are good and look natural. I like the sharp detail in the eye. Initial impact is also good.

This is great shot. The colors are contrasting and the bird "pops" of the photo. The DOF is a little long but does not distract to much. the sharp clear eye is what makes this photo. The only real issue with this is the "film grain" I see in the photo from using to high of ISO most likely.

Great focus and detail in this shot - very nice catch of the bird's eye! The colors are beautiful and the contrast very nice - I like that you can make out the background features, but it doesn't take away from the bird itself.

Thank you so very much! It was just luck he landed as clase as he did. It was by chance I was standing there! After I took a few shots I did not care if he flew so I just kept getting closer and shooting along the way!

With that lens, I don't think you would want to be closer. This is a close-up, certainly, and a very good one but it is not macro and neither is your lens. Love the composition, the fine point on the heron's beak, the blended color of its feathers. Pretty busy background but that is of much lesser significance.

Thank you. I agree this is not a macr but it is close! As for my lens, I can get very close with it!

With certain lens, it actually works better NOT to be physically close, but brought in close with a lens such as yours. Other lens do not have the same requirements.
