This is an excellent close up of the female cardinal. She seems to be looking right at you. Lighting and focus very good showing great detail in her feather markings and colours. Very nice composition. Good luck in the contest.

It is clear that your settings do a great job in providing lots of very enjoyable detail and good natural colours. Don't know if you can do anything about the flash burst in the birds eye.
