I like that you can see the markings of the bird so well, and that you can see the outlines defined. The backround really adds with the subtle vertical lines, and the color (which I really like) makes the bird stand out.

Nice shot Mr. Powell, I love these Blue Herons. I know it is likely a different scenario for you but down here they are very representative of the area. We are a community best known for our local beaches, and of course these herons are some of the more intriguing sites in an area known also for watching migrating birds.
Your shot is very nicely composed; good balance, tonal range and contrast (particularly at his face, which really makes it stand out well and makes for a spectacular center of focus). The colors in the background are what really sells this shot for me. It's almost like copper. That really struck me.
Great composition, you did good. It's nice that you can do that without even stepping foot outside of your car!

Another supper shot my friend. You simply amaze me with your bird shot. "The Bird Man of FAR" is what your new nick name is. Colors are so beautiful. Center of interest is this beautiful Blue Heron. Technically flawless. Story is excellent as always. Lighting is very good.

yes they are a fascinationg creature. really a keen and dedicated fisher. the way they are so motionless, for hrs and then when they move they are so swift and accurate. the angle here is just perfect and the water colour is lovely to.
