You did exactly as I would have done. Shoot and move until he flies. You ended up with a very nice image. I might have been tempted to add a dash of sharpness in an attempt to make the image pop a bit more. But that's just me. Well done.

You did well, good when they co-operate to a degree. Great framing of the shot and focus. Not sure on the black edge on top find it a little distracting, maybe try a darker blue to get the contrast :)

This is just a stunning picture the way you took it. The way you got this so close up is great. I like all the detail you see in this wonderful picture. I like the way the background looks too. I like the way the sun shines on the heron. I like the way he has his neck all tucked up to his body. Just a beautiful and excellent picture.
